Plea from a Respected Teacher.

We know that all the interviews that have been conducted for all of the overpaid posts have been around 20 minutes. Some staff that have got a post have gone from anti Academy to pro Academy but the letter below shows this is not always the case. We have hidden the name of the teacher but would urge them to get in touch to give their view to us directly.

This is from ************ Head of House at Parkview my son assures me.

As a teacher at one of the 3 academy schools - despite having some of the best exam results in Cumbria for over a decade, despite having some of the highest qualifications which I spent years and years at Uni working towards and despite always having the very best Ofsted lesson judgements, I have lost my job from September.

All of this was decided in a 20 minute informal interview 3 weeks ago. Nobody making these life-changing judgements asked my school how good I was, looked at my track record or has had the courtesy to give me any feedback on what I have done wrong.

All of the colleagues I speak to, even those who got the jobs, are not in favour of the academy. Even Douglas Blackledge and the sponsors know that if all the teachers gave up their Summer holiday, it would be logistically impossible to put enough planning in place to ensure the students of the academy receive a satisfactory education come September.

When the inevitable happens and the academy slides into Special measures, when Douglas Blackledge has been suspended and exam results take a nose-dive, it will be up to us so called 'failed' teachers to pick up the pieces and get things back on track.

We're losing so very much and we can still fight this. So come-on staff, parents, kids and governors, if we don't act now we're going to be failing future generations of children. Stop Furness Academy and stop it now.
