The Conservatives are shooting themselves in the foot.
My mother lives on Roose Road in Barrow. About 10 days a go she got 'the blurb' and chat from the brilliant and long standing 'one vote' Jack Richardson. Yes JR himself knocked on her door and told her it was an honour to be standing in her part of town!
She never read the leaflet of course but she did wonder why he was standing down in Hawcoat.
A week later she gets another Conservative leaflet through her door this time with pictures of long standing Roose based County Councillor Ray 'U-Turn' Gusseli on it and this time she read it. It was of course full of the usual rubbish about how great the conservatives were and how bad the labour party was. As if she needed telling. She is 75 and has seen the best and the worst of both parties and tells me that they used to be very different but today it's impossible to put a cigarette paper between them!
So she goes to her 'green bin' which has all her paper rubbish in and pulls out JR's leaflet. It is all but identical on the front page and the back page is written for Risedale instead of Roose but is essentially the same except Guselli's leaflet has two pictures of him 'on the street' and JR's has two picture of his good self.
So is Roose Road in Roose or Risedale?
Two clicks of a mouse and it was obvious from a political boundary map on the County Council web site. Roose Road where my mother lives is in... Risedale!
Priceless.
But it gets better. I live well inside Risedale and I got both leaflets within two days of each other Guselli's first and JR's second!
If they cannot 'manage' a relatively simple problem like getting the RIGHT leaflet through the RIGHT doors how can they be allowed to 'run the county on our behalf'?
