Getting to the REAL truth

Another message from Walney

I would like to make the following statement, but please please protect my identity.

I recently attended a meeting of staff at Walney School. During this meeting we agreed to send a message of support to the staff at the Academy Schools. This message was, as stated not the view of all staff, it was not stated that the SLT were in support. It was intended as a message from some colleagues from one school to the others.

When I sent the letter out, as I understood it, the letter was in the public domain and open for all to see. This was the purpose of the meeting after all. We agreed the content and supported it.

Unfortunately the letter did have an official heading and looked like it was an official document from the School. It does not have the backing of the SLT or Governors and does not represent the views of the School as a whole.

I personally still believe it represents the views of the meeting overall else it would not have been drafted, but that is my opinion.

It would seem that someone has been disciplined for this matter when they had nothing to do with the passing of the letter. I personally feel really bad for that person. The fact is that I did release this in my own time with what I understood to be a document open to the public. I am really worried now that I am unable to even express a view to colleagues without facing the SLT for saying the wrong thing.

The document I sent to you has now been withdrawn as it could put the School in a bad light. It still represents the staff meetings views but could you please distance it from the School itself.  Could you also please apologise to Mr********* for his getting the blame.
