We have done a little experiment to see how Furness Academy performs from a legal point. 3 Mothers trying to find the answer to 1 question midmorning, ringing various sites which may or may not be where the child should be . Roughly put ‘Where is my child?’

The question was not asked straight, but put in a variety of simple questions.

Q1.Which site is my child at?

Q2. Did my child arrive this morning?

Q3. I need to pick my child up for a medical appointment, can they be reminded to meet me at point z?

The results were not only worrying but place the Academy as an illegal institution.

A1, ‘your child should be on the timetabled site, you need to ring that site directly to verify the whereabouts as we cannot pass you through to the other site.

A2, ‘As we have no direct contact with site 2 we cannot verify if your child is on the other site without making further enquiries’

A3 ‘We will endeavour to contact your child to pass on the information’

All of this is totally illegal. After the events of recent years the school is obliged to let parents know if a pupil has not turned up by a certain time. They should know exactly where every child is. They are under contract to inform a parent that a child is not in attendance if they have not already been notified that a child is not registered.

None of this is happening as it should. All staff we have put this to state that OFSTED would fail this school on these matters alone. There are much more failings to come…….
